Formation: Four couples in a square.

The Grand Square

For purposes of this description "partner" is always the original partner, the one with whom the dance begins; "opposite" is always that particular person standing directly opposite when the dance begins.

COUNTS

Intro: Heads face to the center; sides face partner.
4 Heads walk fwd 4 steps, turn ¼ to face partner, while at the same time sides back away from partner 4 steps and turn to face opposite;
4 Heads take near hand of opposite, back up 4 steps and turn to face that same person, as sides walk fwd 4 steps to meet opposite and turn to face center (partner is across the set);
4 Heads back away from opposite 4 steps, turn 1/4 to face partner, while sides walk into the center 4 steps and turn to face opposite;
4 Heads walk 4 steps to partner, DO NOT TURN, as sides join hands with partner and back up to place, remaining facing center;
Reverse (follow the exact floor pattern in reverse).
4 Heads back away, sides walk forward;
4 Heads walk forward, sides back up;
4 Heads walk forward, sides back away;
4 Heads back up, sides walk to place and face center.

1- 8 1st couple dives under as 3rd couple arches over; both couples cross the square and turn to face center, dropping hands and taking new inside hands;

17-24 2nd couple dives under as 4th couple arches, both couples cross the square and turn to face center;
25-32 New 2nd couple dives under as new 4th arches and both couples return to place;
