Formation: Couples (lady on man's right) in a single circle, all hands joined and facing COH.

l- 8 CIRCLE LEFT With all hands joined, all circle left 8 steps.

9-16 CIRCLE RIGHT - All circle right 8 steps.

17-32 LADIES AROUND MEN The ladies dance a "figure of eight" around the standing men (their partner and their corner) beginning by dancing to the left in front of their partner, around him, then in front of their corner, around him and return to place 8 counts each, total 16 counts.

33-48 MEN AROUND LADIES The men dance a "figure of eight" around the standing ladies (their partner and their corner) beginning by dancing to the right in front of their partner, around her, then in front of their corner, around her, and return to place. End facing partners, men facing LOD.

49-56 CLAP TWICE, STAMP TWICE, PASS BY THE RIGHT Start an "interrupted grand right and left." Partners clap own hands twice, then stamp right foot twice, then join right hands and pass each other by in 4 steps to face the next.

57-64 CLAP TWICE, STAMP TWICE, PASS BY THE LEFT Repeat the hand claps and stamps, join left hands and pass each other by in 4 steps to face the next.

65-72 CLAP TWICE, STAMP TWICE, PASS BY THE RIGHT Repeat counts 49-56.

73-80 CLAP TWICE, STAMP TWICE, PASS BY THE LEFT Repeat counts 57-64. End ready to circle to the left.

Note: This dance was devised by Iain Boyd of Wanganui, New Zealand as a Scottish Country Dance and was originally titled "The Fairy Ring." Iain preferred a 40-bar jig and used the music "The Fyket" by McBains Scottish Country Band. The dance was given to Don Armstrong by Vicky Goodloe, Midway, Kentucky.
