Formation: Couples in a double circle with partners facing. Boy has his back to the center of the circle. 

SONG ACTION 
How do you do, my partner?  :  Boys bow.
How do you do today?  :  Girls curtsy. 
Will you dance in a circle?  :  Boys and girls take right hands. 
I will show you the way.  :  Both join left hands under the right hands and face LOD.
(This is called cross-hand promenade position.) 
CHORUS 
Tra, la, la; la, la, la;     All skip around in LOD, singing
Tra, la, la; la, la, la;     through the chorus. At the end all
Tra, la, la; la, la, la;     the girls move forward one place to
Tra, la, la; la, la, la.     a new partner. 
Note: An important basic position is introduced in this dance. The cross-hand promenade is the most comfortable way for two persons to promenade and is fundamental to most American square dancing.
